Susan Gray

I have been teaching Special Education all of my 31 years. My undergraduate degree in MR/LD is from the University of Oklahoma. I obtained a Masters in Education, with a special emphasis in reading, from Northeastern State University. In addition I have received state teaching certifications for Autism and Other Health Impairments and Multiple Disabilities.

I am the proud mom of a 2011 Union graduate who is pursuing a career with the Air National Guard as well as a member of the Union Class of 2020.  I am married to a Union graduate as well!  We pretty much live and breath Redskins in our home.

This year I am returning as the Educational Resource (ER 1) Teacher.  I had been an ER 2 teacher for 14 years before switching over to ER 1. This year I have been given the opportunity to work with a paraprofessional.  This will allow me to focus on the Language Arts while my aide works with the general education teachers in Math.  Along with the Special Services Team, we hope to make Darnaby the "flagship" school for inclusion in the district.  I am always looking for ways to accommodate, encourage, collaborate and demostrate so that all students are successful no matter what their academic level.  And that all teachers come to realize that each and every one of their students has the potential to be successful in their classrooms.
