Gavyn Clare

I am entering my 2nd year of coaching and teaching here at Union High School. I am a previous Union HS graduate who from 2009, and played on the 2008 6A Football State Championship team. I received my Masters of Education from Tarleton State University in May 2016 (part of Texas A&M University system). While at Tarleton State, I was a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Performance and worked with Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, and directed all strength and conditioning efforts for the Women’s Volleyball Team. Before that I received my Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Central Oklahoma. I will be coaching the Advanced Weightlifting course as well as Adaptive P.E. In my course students will be taught and exposed to numerous styles, programs, and approaches to strength and conditioning weightlifting. From classic powerlifting lifts, to basic bodyweight movements, to the lifts that are done at the Olympics, I will teach it all. My vision for my class is to convey and coach the importance of physical fitness, mental focus, and self-discipline, not only as it applies in the weight room, but more importantly how it carries over into your lifestyle and career success.

In addition, I serve as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Athletic Department here at Union Public Schools. I oversee all off-season/in-season programs for: Softball, Volleyball, Girls Soccer, Boys/Girls Tennis and Boys Golf. Also I aide as time allows in all Football and Baseball. I am looking forward to a year full of academic success and state championships.

“All my life I want to be a Redskin, work, work, baby work, work.”
