Jami Rozell

I completed my undergraduate degree at North Dakota State University, receiving my degree in Physical Education with a minor in Health. I completed my Masters degree in Health and Kinesiology from Northeastern State University. I have taught P.E. at Union at both the 8th and 9th grade centers for three years.

My teaching practices closely align with the philosophies of the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America), previously known as the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD). This is the most renowned professional organization that encompasses the area of Physical Education at the local, state, and national levels. The standards that fall within Best Practices for Physical Education are applied within my classes and closely align with Best Practices for Coaching, which I also apply to coaching here at Union, at the competitive level, and at the State Olympic Development level. I have been a co-researcher and presenter at an AAHPERD Central District Convention to demonstrate my support and inclusion of professional development within our field. I am currently a competitive soccer coach, and coaching soccer here at Union where we are two time defending state and national champions.

I want to provide students with the knowledge, tools, and exposure to find physical activities and interests they could potentially pursue throughout their lifetime. Providing students with a foundational skill set that allows them to more fully experience activities encourages a more enjoyable experience within these activities. This increases the likelihood of students finding physical activities they enjoy enough to continue throughout their lives.
