Jay Walker

My name is Jay Walker and I teach Biology, Environmental Science, and Botany at Union High School. I am a botanist and incorporate hands-on experiences with plants into much of my teaching. My scientific research concentrates on understanding relationships between plants in the mint family, particularly the sage genus (Salvia). I also have worked extensively studying human's uses of plants (medicinal and otherwise).  I have worked as a field botanist throughout North America and Brazil, an ethnobotanist in Belize, an education coordinator with Botanical Gardens, and an instructor at the University level. I have also worked to help develop and interpret the natural areas of the Tulsa Botanical Garden here in Tulsa. My undergraduate degree is from Grinnell College in Iowa, and my graduate degrees are from OU and University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Students can find course content and syllabi by logging onto CANVAS.
