Jon Biggs

9th Grade Center

I graduated from high school in 1968 from Nathan Hale High School. After graduation, I attended Bacone College in Muskogee where I majored in mathematics, and played baseball and basketball for two years. I received an Associate degree from Bacone.
I proceeded to John Brown University, where I also majored in mathematics, and played baseball and basketball. I did not graduate from John Brown; I worked in the steel fabrication industry for seven and one half years. I graduated from Northeastern State University after getting married and starting a family. During the period from college until graduation from NSU, I worked as a carpenter, deliverer, laborer, sandblaster, shop foreman, inventory control clerk, steel buyer, and owner of a cleaning company.
I began my teaching career in Owasso, where I taught general mathematics, pre-algebra, algebra I and physical education for nine years. I came to Union Public Schools in 1996 and have taught here for twenty years. I have taught Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Pre-AP geometry. During this time I also taught summer school at Union Public Schools for 15 of those years. I have also coached basketball, baseball and football, 8th grade to Junior Varsity. I currently coach 8th grade football.
I received my Master of Science in Education Administration in 2006, and I am certified as a high school principal.
Teaching and coaching is a calling. I try to “bring my A game” to the classroom and the football field every day and enjoy interaction with my students and players. It is my philosophy that math class should not be boring. Students should enjoy coming to class every day. I also believe that, as a teacher and coach, I should strive for excellence and pass that along to my students.
